Chairman's Challenge 2010 -11

|

The 7th annual Chairman’s Challenge will take placeduring the academic year 2010-2011.

The aim is to enable children & young people to develop innovative ways to encourage their friends and families to make healthier/safer lifestyle choices. The winners from each phase (primary, secondary, special and family involvement) will receive £1,000 with prizes for the runners up for their schools to further develop activities.

To provide more flexibility for schools, the highly successful school council version of the Chairman’s Challenge will enable entrants to select the focus to be either on ‘Be Healthy’ or ‘Stay Safe’.

The idea of the School Council category of the Chairman’s Challenge is that children & young people are empowered to really make a difference. The teacher’s role is to act as facilitator to enable the children & young people to take the lead.

The Family Involvement category aims to explore creative ideas to engage parents/carers/families in supporting them to make healthier/safer lifestyle choices. This development could be led by either:-

  • The School Council or
  • PTFA/ Friends Association/Parents’ Forum or
  • A task group within school
